The Low Pressure Turbine rotors returned from the United Kingdom to Duck Cove.

June 5, 2009

The release of all 760 calandria tube inserts, which hold the calandria tubes in place, was safely and successfully completed. This enabled the calandria tube removal process to begin.

April 23, 2009

All 380 pressure tubes were removed from the reactor. This sequence of work was especially challenging due to a higher than expected requirement for inspection, adjustment, maintenance and repair of the complex tooling used to remove the pressure tubes.

The refurbishment project at the Point Lepreau Generating Station completed the removal of the 760 end fittings

A significant milestone was achieved September 4, 2008 when the feeder team completed the removal of all 760 feeders.

NB Power and AECL employees celebrated a major milestone in the PLGS Refurbishment Project: the start of the refurbishment outage. An update was provided to members of the media.

A media update was held at the AECL Saint John Office. Topics include the specialized tooling being used for the upcoming Point Lepreau Generating Station Refurbishment Project, AECL’s Centre of Excellence for Re-Tubing and the strong working relationship that exists between AECL and NB Power.
