Contracts Awarded

AECL is working closely with Business New Brunswick to help ensure that all New Brunswick suppliers are notified when contracts come up for bidding. Business New Brunswick personnel have been to the office on two occasions to view the types of refurbishment "tools" on which New Brunswick firms would be eligible to bid.

Contracts have been awarded to the following companies:

	Arvin Machine Works Inc. Arvin Machine Works Inc. - Atcon Group (ArvinMachineWorks.com) of Miramichi for constructing seven Fuel Channel Mockups to be used for testing and training. They will be available in one of our warehouses for training purposes and will also be sent out to suppliers to test the quality of the tools they have been contracted to produce.
	Nu-Tech Precision Metals Nu-Tech Precision Metals (ZirconiumTube.com) of Arnprior, Ontario for the fabrication of the Pressure Tubes. Nu-Tech is the sole Canadian supplier of these very specialized nuclear components. This was the first contract to be secured – AECL issued the supply order in November 2005 - to guarantee on-time delivery for March 2008, prior to the scheduled outage of Point Lepreau Generating Station in April, 2008;
	Opron Maritimes Construction Opron Maritimes Construction (Opron.com) of Saint John for the civil portion of the Solid Radioactive Waste Management Facility, on site at the Station. Construction of this facility has already begun and will be completed by December 31, 2006. The waste storage structures must be in-place prior to the start of the refurbishment outage which is scheduled to begin in April 2008;
	Precision Nuclear Inc. Precision Nuclear Inc. (PrecisionNuclear.com), manufacturer of specialized equipment for the nuclear industry, have secured a contract with Atomic Energy Canada Limited (AECL) to manufacture end fittings for use in the refurbishment of the Point Lepreau Generating Station. The company recently earned its class 1 nuclear certification, making it one of only a few manufacturing facilities in Canada qualified to supply these high end products for AECL;
	Siemens As part of the refurbishment and on-going maintenance activities, equipment at the Point Lepreau Generating Station will be transported off-site for maintenance and replacement. Siemens (Siemens.com) will be involved in the overhauling the main generator and the replacement of low pressure turbine rotors during the Refurbishment Project. The first movement involves shipping the generator by barge from Duck Cove to Saint John in late April / beginning of May 2008, and then from Saint John to the United Kingdom for maintenance. In September 2008, some new components will be shipped by barge to Duck Cove and the generator will be returned to the station in late 2008 / early 2009.
	Sunny Corner Enterprises Inc. Sunny Corner Enterprises Inc. (SCEI.ca), Miramichi City for the mechanical components for the Solid Radioactive Waste Management Facility.
