Construction of this facility has already begun and will be completed by December 31, 2006. The waste storage structures must be in-place prior to the start of the refurbishment outage which is scheduled to begin in April 2008;

Precision Nuclear Inc.
Precision Nuclear Inc. (PrecisionNuclear.com ), manufacturer of specialized equipment for the nuclear industry, have secured a contract with Atomic Energy Canada Limited (AECL) to manufacture end fittings for use in the refurbishment of the Point Lepreau Generating Station. The company recently earned its class 1 nuclear certification, making it one of only a few manufacturing facilities in Canada qualified to supply these high end products for AECL;

Siemens
As part of the refurbishment and on-going maintenance activities, equipment at the Point Lepreau Generating Station will be transported off-site for maintenance and replacement. Siemens (Siemens.com ) will be involved in the overhauling the main generator and the replacement of low pressure turbine rotors during the Refurbishment Project. The first movement involves shipping the generator by barge from Duck Cove to Saint John in late April / beginning of May 2008, and then from Saint John to the United Kingdom for maintenance. In September 2008, some new components will be shipped by barge to Duck Cove and the generator will be returned to the station in late 2008 / early 2009.
